Installed Leopard on my MacBook Pro / Crysis for PC Demo

Well I got my Leopard Up-To-Date DVD in the mail today and proceeded to upgrade my existing Tiger install. It took about 1 hour and 15 minutes and when it was done, the only thing that didn’t work right were the Yahoo widgets.I’m going to try to reinstall them later.I’m still playing with Leopard and running a Time Machine initial backup as I write this post.I’ll have more to comment about it probably in a few days.

Cryis Demo for PC was released over the weekend also. I got a chance to play it for 30 minutes or so. The game is amazing, the graphics are top notch. I’ll have to buy the full version when it is released on November 16th. The game utilizes the newest graphic technologies using DX10.You can find more about the game here and download the demo here.

15 mins to Leopard Release at my Local Apple Store

I’m at my local Apple store right now and they are about to release Leopard.
I all ready have my copy pre-ordered from the Up-To-Date program, so I’m waiting for a T-Shirt instead.
I’ll post a few pictures later that I just uploaded to flickr here.

Google Rolls out IMAP for Gmail

Google started to roll out IMAP access on some accounts in Gmail.
So far, one of my three Gmail accounts has had it enabled.  I set it up with my computer and iPhone.  Now when I get email and read it, move it, or delete it, in one place, it does the same for the other device since the mail is stored on the server and is synchronized using IMAP.
You can find out more about Gmail IMAP here.

MacBook Pro waiting for Leopard

Yesterday, I received my MacBook Pro from Amazon.com.
I decided to get the 2.4Ghz model with the 256MB video card since I plan on using it with my 1080p LCD in dual display mode.
I ordered the Leopard Up-to-date Disc for $9.95 + tax which came to $10.81.
Now all I have to do is wait for Leopard in the mail. :)

Ubuntu 7.10 Gutsy Gibson Released

On October 18th Ubuntu released 7.10 Gutsy Gibson.
Ubuntu is a Operating System like Windows or Mac OSX, but is free and maintained by the community.  It also run more efficiently on older machines than XP, making a great choice for that old machine your not using.
I upgraded from 7.04 Fiesty Fawn and it seems to be running pretty well.  It has better bluetooth support I can tell so far.
You can download and find more info here.

From Apple’s website-
Packed with more than 300 new features, Mac OS X Leopard goes on sale Friday, October 26, at 6:00 p.m. at Apple’s retail stores and Apple Authorized Resellers, Apple announced today. And, beginning today, customers can place pre-orders on Apple’s online store. “Leopard, the sixth major release of Mac OS X, is the best upgrade we’ve ever released,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO. “And everyone gets the ‘Ultimate’ version, packed with all the new innovative features, for just $129.”
I’m so excited for I am going to get a MacBook Pro with Leopard Pre-Installed.  I’ve been waiting for a while now, but the wait is almost over. Yay!
You can find out more information here.

Microsoft Bluetooth 5000 Notebook Mouse

Today I received my Microsoft Bluetooth 5000 Notebook Mouse from Amazon.com. The mouse is very light compared to the Apple Wireless Bluetooth Mighty Mouse due to it using smaller AAA batteries.  The mouse is not as thin as other mice.  I find it’s not as ergonomic as the Apple Style Mighty Mouse.  One good function is the mouse has a low battery indicator to remind you to change the batteries.
You can find more about the mouse here.

Apple Web Apps Webpage for iPhone and iPod Touch

Apple created a website for the iPhone and iPod touch that has a bunch of Web Apps organized by category.  The page is not designed to be iPhone/Touch Safari specific, but the web apps are.  The page is viewed like a normal page where you zoom in and out.  I think it’s a matter of time before they make it viewable specifically for the iPhone or iPod Touch.
You can check out the Web Apps page here.

Radiohead In Rainbows – Pay what you want album.

Radiohead released its new album today for download over the internet.  The unique thing about this album is that you pay what you want for it.  So if you think it’s worth $0, you pay $0, if you think it’s worth $20, pay $20 etc…
I think this is a great idea and test.
You can download a copy of the new album here.

Apple Wireless Bluetooth Keyboard

Yesterday, my local Apple store finally got the wireless keyboard in stock. I have the usb slim keyboard on my PC and love the feel and action of the keys, so I wanted to get the wireless model for my Dell Linux Box. I ended up using my $100 iPhone early buyer credit to purchase it.
The keyboard works great. I was able to get it to work with Ubuntu 7.04 Fiesty Fawn along with the Bluetooth Wireless Mighty Mouse (How-to here). The eject key even opens the CD tray in Linux. The keyboard battery compartment opens with a coin and takes 3 AA batteries and boasts very good battery life (About 7 months). Overall this is the best small keyboard I have ever used.
The keyboard goes for $79.00 and is available at the Apple Store online here.
Update 10/12/2007:
I later tried to get it working with Windows XP but had no luck.
XP would detect the keyboard, but didn’t let me enter a pin to connect to it.
